3 Things Dietitians Won’t Tell You About Diet and Weight Loss

By July 5, 2016Weight Loss

With obesity rates rising across the United States, it seems like nearly everyone in the country has one thing in common – we all want to lose weight. Americans are so concerned with their health and weight loss that dieting is not just a fad or a trend – it’s a $60-billion-dollar industry. That industry is built around selling you different diet plans and other products, not helping you to lose weight as quickly and safely as possible. As a result, there are quite a few things about successful weight loss that your dietitian won’t tell you.

Diet Alone Doesn’t Always Work

First, if you’ve ever tried losing weight before, you’ve undoubtedly come across the old diet philosophy that weight loss is just a matter of burning more calories than you eat. If it were that simple, though, a lot more dieters would be thin and svelte.

For some people, a hormone imbalance may be the cause of weight gain, and it can prevent them from shedding pounds, even with a strict diet and regular exercise. For others, constant hunger pangs can get in the way of weight loss.

You Don’t Have to Go Hungry

Most dietitians will tell you that a restrictive diet and/or a diet that excludes certain foods will be the best way to lose weight. However, while a restrictive diet alone may help you lose weight initially, it can wreak havoc on your metabolism and your health if you stick to it for too long. A good alternative is something like the hCG diet, in which you’ll stick to a strict diet for only a few weeks, and at the same time you’ll get hCG treatments to help boost and reset your metabolism. Many patients find even more success by combining this treatment with safe appetite suppressants to avoid feeling hungry in between meals.

It Doesn’t Have to Be So Hard

The diet industry makes its money by offering people “solutions” to their weight loss problems, but those “solutions” never seem to work for the long-term. People stop dieting because it’s too hard, and when they seek help, they’re told things like, “Well, losing weight isn’t easy.” Yes, trying to lose weight without help or medical supervision can be incredibly difficult, but it doesn’t have to be.
