The Best Hair Removal Products for Men and Women

When it comes to getting rid of unwanted hair, men and women typically have very different goals, but everyone is interested. Men aren’t expected to keep their legs or arms shaved, but too much back and torso hair can be really embarrassing and uncomfortable. Furthermore, while most men may want the option to grow a beard again in the future, both men and women are looking for permanent hair removal solutions for body hair and/or overly thick eyebrows.

So, what are the best hair removal products for men and women? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the most popular and effective solutions on the market.

Laser Hair Removal

If you never want to see hair on a particular part of your body again (e.g., on your back, bikini area, torso, or between your eyebrows), laser hair removal is absolutely the most effective and best treatment possible. After just two to six sessions, you can permanently rid yourself of all or nearly all of the hair in the targeted area. And, if some hair does eventually grow back, it is almost always very fine and sparse – so much so that it’s usually easy to take care of it with a pair of tweezers or a quick swipe with a razor.

Many people skip laser hair removal because these products must be used by a trained professional and treatments are more expensive than other hair removal products. However, when you consider how much money you spend in a single year on razors, shaving cream, waxing appointments, and/or depilatories, the cost starts to look a lot more reasonable. After this treatment, you’d never have to buy new shaving supplies again!

The second best hair removal product for men or women is most likely waxing. Unlike shaving, waxing pulls hair out at its roots and leaves skin smooth without any stubble or razor bumps. However, for waxing to work effectively the hair must be at least a few millimeters long when you go in for your appointment.

Furthermore, just like laser hair removal, you really cannot wax at home and get the same results. Yes, there are at-home kits, but this is a procedure that’s best done by professionals, especially if you are waxing a difficult to reach or very sensitive area, like your back or your bikini line. Plus, waxing is not a permanent solution. Every few weeks or months you will need to make another appointment to get waxed again, and while hair in the waxed area does tend to get thinner, it never disappears entirely.

Depilatories and Shaving

Finally, we come to the most commonly used hair removal products – the ones you can use at home. These, unfortunately, are the “worst of the best” products available for removing body hair. Depilatories are meant to chemically remove hair, but this means that they can wreak havoc on sensitive skin and leave stubble at the same time. Likewise, shaving – as you probably know all too well – can leave your skin feeling dry, ashy, and irritated. And, if you’re dealing with a sensitive area with thicker hair, you are most likely going to have problems with razor bumps, too.

By far, laser hair removal is the very best product for removing hair for either men or women. It involves a little bit more of an upfront investment, but once you’re done with treatments you’ll never have to worry about buying any other hair removal products again.
