Laser Vein Treatment Can Remove Unsightly Surface Veins
Some people are plagued with spider veins and varicose veins from an early age; others never have to deal with them at all. Some people just look like theyve never had to deal with them. These twisted, bulging, herniated veins under the surface of the skin make your legs look older and less appealing than they should, and you may think theres nothing you can do about it. Fortunately, a couple of forms of laser vein treatment have been developed to easily and nearly painlessly remove these blemishes.
Except in a few rare cases, varicose veins are not medically serious. They dont cause pain or discomfort, and they pose no real medical risks to your life. However, they can have some serious ill effects on your emotional wellbeing. Do you hate looking at your legs? Do you wear long pants or leggings, even when its hot outside, and youd prefer to wear shorts or a skirt? If so, varicose veins laser treatment may be the solution.
There are two basic types of laser treatments for varicose and spider veins. The first, simple laser treatment, is non-invasive. Its performed entirely on the outside of the skin with a focused laser. Simple laser treatments are only effective on spider veins and very small varicose veins. If these are your only surface vein problems, youll most likely need to have laser treatment in Fort Worth, Colleyville and Southlake over several sessions, spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart.
If you have larger varicose veins, your surgeon will most likely recommend endovenous laser treatment. In this procedure, which is minimally invasive, your surgeon will pass a laser fiber through a catheter into the affected vein. Theyll monitor it using ultrasound equipment and use the laser to close off the vein.
Both of these treatments require only a topical or local anesthesia, and you will be able to walk immediately after the procedure. With simple laser treatment, youll be able to go back to your normal activities immediately. With endovenous treatment, youll need to wear compression stockings for about a week afterward, and your doctor will follow up with to perform an ultrasound on your leg to make sure that the vein closed properly.
Both of these procedures are nearly painless and have very little recovery time, as opposed to older procedures, like vein ligation and vein stripping, which are much more invasive and require general anesthesia and a long recovery time.
